Blue Birds from a few years ago

Blue Bird
Two Blue Bird pairs have made a nest in our newly erected Blue Bird house.
The two pairs are very entertaining to watch. The female gathers pine needles for the nest and the male follows behind every time she drops some in the house. They are always together; they do not part very long from one another.

We put up a suit wire basket filled with seeds and fruit and they just love it. But the woodpecker loves it even more.

Here they both are feeding from it. They are very beautiful birds. The woodpecker is getting very use to us being near the feeder. But the Blue Bird is still a little skittish. Perhaps the woodpecker seen here gives him a little confidence that we will not hurt him. This Female seems to enjoy the suit also. We have seen quit a verity of birds this season. And below you can view other feathered visitors.

Spring time apple makes for a good nesting box.

Red Finch against the late snowy day brings a bit of color to the dull scenery.

On May 15 2007 the female Easter Blue Bird got killed, leaving the male to take care of the three chicks in the nest box. May 16 2007 the babies left the nest and on May 17, 2007 the male Blue Bird left our yard. This was a most wonderful experience for me and my wife Debbie. We thoroughly enjoyed watching this two birds every day, I have taken thousands of pictures of them, and will be putting them in a book.
Deb and I were very saddened by the death of the female Blue Bird. Nature can be cruel but nothing can be done about it. This is the first day without there percents’ in the yard and it seems very quiet and unfulfilling. I will miss them very much.

Good bye to a special friend in our lives. We will miss you!
